Rupert West FRICS
After leaving the Royal Agricultural College Cirencester Rupert qualified with the ADAS Land Service in Yorkshire before returning to his native East Midlands. For the past 40 years, he has worked in private practice and within King West, leads the firm's Professional team and undertakes strategic consultancy work for a wide range of mainly rural Estates. A RICS Registered Valuer, Rupert responsible for the firm's growing Valuation specialisation. Rupert is currently President of the Northamptonshire CLA and until recently served on the CLA's National Environment Committee.
James Douglas BSc (Hons) MRICS, FAAV
James comes from a long-established family farming background and graduated in 2014 from the Royal Agricultural University with a degree in Rural Land Management. James undertakes a wide variety of professional work primarily in rural Estate and Farm Management. His experience and knowledge enable him to provide useful and effective general agricultural advice to his clients and to act as an expert within the team. James is also a RICS Registered Valuer, able to deliver credible and high-quality reports. He is committed to openness and transparency throughout his areas of specialism.
Andrew Cowling BSc (Est. Man) FRICS
With nearly 40 years years of experience, Andrew has represented a range of corporate, public sector and private landowner clients in the identification, valuation and disposal of development land for a range of users including residential, retail, industrial, distribution and leisure. Based in Market Harborough, Andrew has been significantly involved in the expansion of towns such as Northampton, Daventry and Milton Keynes. Andrew is an experienced RICS Registered Valuer, with similarly huge knowledge and expertise in Landlord and Tenant matters.
Head of Client Accounts
Carol is an hugely experienced bookkeeper who has fulfilled a number of responsible roles for a range of different organisations within the East Midlands over a number of years. Since early 2015 Carol has led the King West’s clients accounting specialisation, operating the firm’s advanced Key Prime book keeping / reporting software, preparing / managing cash-flow budgets, managing clients bank accounts and VAT returns, and operating the firm’s computerised PAYE payroll sotware. Carol is married, lives locally and enjoys exercising her numerous dogs.
Mike Smith MRTPI
Mike joined King West in early 2019, as successor to Martin Bagshaw MRTPI in leading the firm's planning specialisation. Based at our Market Harborough office, Mike has a wide and varied knowledge of the local and regional areas. Similarly experienced, he qualified in 1990 and since that time he has worked extensively in a variety of senior planning roles in the East Midlands, in both the public and the private sector. He has particular expertise in handling rural–based planning applications, conducting planning appeals and making submissions to Local Plan Examinations in Public.
