The Practice

Following the merger between King West, John Martin & Associates, and Blacklee Smith the firm can offer expertise in surveys and valuations with over 30 years’ experience. Clients have included major lending institutions such as banks and building societies, builders and developers, solicitors, accountants, financial advisors, trustee and private clients.


Residential

In our experience, buyers generally require an overview of the condition of the property, and advice on whether it is reasonably priced.

The well tried and tested Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Homebuyer Survey and Valuation is the ideal format. This highlights any problems that require further investigation before purchase.

Sometimes surveys are tailor made for specific purposes: for example, properties purchased under supervision of the Court of Protection requiring adaption for the disabled. Some clients require a more thorough structural, or building, survey. Our surveyors will be pleased to discuss clients’ requirements in detail when taking instructions.

Country Houses

King West has an in-depth knowledge of the Country House and rural property market in the East Midlands, where the firm are pre-eminent in sales and acquisition.



Farms

The origins of the firm lie in the sale, purchase and management of farms and rural estates. Thus, we are highly experienced in the valuation of all classes of leasehold and freehold property.

Experienced Development Land Consultants John Martin & Associates is part of King West and, through their specialist knowledge, we can offer valuation advice on most aspects of development schemes.

Commercial

The firm provide a comprehensive range of surveying and valuation services for clients with commercial property interests. Commercial property surveys tend to be more bespoke in nature. Dependent upon circumstances and the type and age of the property etc, our surveyors will advise on the most suitable form of report.

We advise buyers and sellers, landlords and tenants, as well as other property professionals and lending institutions. Where required, we can prepare Schedules of Condition for attaching to leases, and Schedules of Dilapidations for when leases come to an end. We can provide planned maintenance reports and supervise building works as required.
