New planning fee regulations for replacing existing planning permissions
A new package of planning system reforms were introduced in October 2009 for extending time limits on existing planning permissions. The new regulations only apply to planning permissions granted on or before 1st October 2009 and where the development authorised by that permission has not begun. All permissions are included and once an extension has been granted a developer cannot then apply for a further extension.
This simplified procedure allows the renewal of existing planning permissions by way of an application form, certificate of ownership and fee. There is no requirement for any supporting documentation such as Design and Access Statements, plans or drawings.
As of 26th February 2010, the fee payable for these applications is as follows:
- £500 for major developments
- £170 for other sizes of developments
- £50 for householder developments
