The Practice

The origins of King West lie in the strategic and day-to-day management of rural property, and our building surveying specialism grew out of the need to provide our wide spectrum of clients with a high degree of service in this area. It is now the fastest growing department in the firm, and the building surveying services offered are suited to all types of Rural, Residential and Commercial Buildings.

Rural

Our services include all aspects of building management for rural estates and we have extensive experience working with a wide range of rural and estate properties. In particular we manage planned cyclical maintenance, property refurbishment and repair schedules, organising projects large and small.

Heritage

The firm is involved with maintenance and adaptation of listed and other historic buildings with established working contacts at English Heritage and other statutory bodies engaged with conservation issues.

Commercial

We are experienced in the management and surveying of commercial buildings, and provide advice on maintenance and repairs. Planned maintenance schedules and supervision of all building works can be provided. For commercial leases we can prepare Schedules of Condition and undertake Dilapidations Surveys, providing support and advice in subsequent negotiations between landlord and tenant. Full building surveys can be carried out for assessing the condition of commercial units prior to purchase or to aid future commercial portfolio planning.

Residential

We offer a wide range of residential building surveys to accommodate the client’s needs, and can carry out buildings surveys for specialist areas. Our building surveying services include advice on and management of property refurbishment; building condition reports for property management or purchase; preparation of Dilapidations Surveys in accordance with accepted protocol; and negotiations on behalf of both landlord and tenant clients.

Digital Mapping

The Building Surveying department also oversee the firm's digital mapping services. With advanced digital mapping software we can produce high quality plans for a wide range of uses based on the latest OS digital data, satellite and aerial photography. This can include total estate mapping or for smaller land parcels.
