Estate and Farm Managment

King West are fortunate to be retained by clients across the East Midlands.  These include those for whom head of department Rupert West has acted since the early 1980s; together with other clients who have joined us more recently.  Mike Holland and Nicki Brocklesby between them have acted for a number of clients for a combined period of over 20 years.

Our Estate Management activities include strategic and day-to-day management for a number of privately owned medium sized (4000 acres) and smaller landed estates.  Our brief typically includes overall advice, management of let residential, agricultural and business properties, farm and woodland management, supervision of contractors, employment/payment of staff and a full range of financial management services.

Our in-hand farm management typically involves responsibility for contract-managed arable operations and sale of grass under a variety of profit à prendre or short term grazing arrangements.

We also act in a consultancy role for other trustee or family company owned estates, offering a wide variety of professional advice and services.

Book Keeping

King West employs two full time and one part time book keeper who deal with our clients accounting requirements, using computerised Landmark Key Accounts/Key Property software. They deal with PAYE of estate staff, VAT (including partially exempt regimes) monthly management reports, payment of accounts, collection of rents, credit control and preparation of year-end data for client’s taxation advisors.

Building Surveying

The firm offers a range of building surveying services for clients, including initiation and supervision of regular property maintenance programmes and improvement schemes.  Such properties range through traditional and modern dwellings, farm buildings, commercial and residential buildings to Grade I listed buildings.

Digital Mapping

We have invested in software for estate mapping which uses up-to-date digitised Ordnance Survey information overlaid onto aerial photography.  It is capable of producing high quality plans to an infinite range of estate and farm management uses.

Other Professional Work

In addition our Land Agency and Professional department undertakes Valuations, Expert Witness, Compulsory Purchase and Compensation, Conservation Schemes, Diversification Schemes and Landlord & Tenant work.
